A Home-Cooked Story
This project was intended to focus on visual storytelling. I focused on a personal experience and wanted to use a book layout to tell my story. A major part of this project for me was the content within and the images. I wrote all of the stories and recipes in my cooking storybook and also photographed all of my own dishes for the book. I wanted the layout and images to put focus on the type and encourage readers to delve into the stories in the book.
A Home-Cooked Story
This book is focused around my life and the recipes and food that I love. Cooking has become something very near and dear to my heart and I wanted to tell the story of how some of my favorite recipes came to be and the stories behind them. The book starts out with recipes from my earlier childhood and continues throughout my life up until college which is when I started my cooking journey and started making the recipes my own. This book is really special to me because I get to share my recipes with others and tell the stories about myself and my family.
One of the biggest challenges of this project was writing the copy. My goal for the language of this book to feel casual but still knowledgable. I wanted the reader to feel as if they were hearing the recipe directly from me!
